Aeroseal professional duct sealing seals the leaks in your ductwork and HVAC system that let harmful contaminants and humidity pollute the air inside your home or business.
Aeroseal reduces harmful airborne pollutants and improves the efficiency of your HVAC system, which helps protect your family, customers, and employees from the side effects of breathing contaminated air.
What is Duct Sealing?
Aeroseal duct sealing protects your living space by closing leaks that let pollutants and organic matter contaminate the air you breathe. This process improves the air quality and comfort in your living space, while reducing overall heating and cooling costs.
The non-destructive process, shown in the animation, seals ducts without removing sheetrock (drywall), trampling or destroying insulation, or temporarily displacing you from your home.
Indoor Air Quality of Texas Aeroseal Technicians are experts at fixing leaky ducts. And if you don’t have enough clean air in your home, we can help with that too.

DID YOU KNOW: DUST INCREASES THE
CIRCULATION OF VOCs
Concentrations of dust, humidity, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can substantially impact air quality in your home. It’s like a triple threat assault on your home or businesses’ air quality.
Research by Dr. Richard Corsi, Ph.D. P.E., out of the University of Texas, has shown that humidity, dust, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) can have a compounding effect when it comes to indoor air quality.
VOCs “off gas” from things like padded furniture, carpet, or mattresses. For example, even brand-new couches or mattresses with polyurethane padding both absorb and off-gas VOCs.
In situations without higher humidity, instead of becoming airborne, the VOCs like to hangout close to the surface. Once dust settles on the same surface, the VOCs attach themselves to those larger dust particles.
Then when we upset those surfaces by sitting or walking, those larger VOC laced dust particles become airborne giving us the opportunity to inhale them and our HVAC system ammunition to circulate them.
Sealing leaky ducts reduces dust and the proliferation of VOC-laden dust particles into the air you and your family, customers and employees breathe every day.
Aeroseal duct sealing helps create a healthier and more efficient living and work environment by:
- Preventing contaminants from inside your walls, attic, and crawl spaces from polluting air your family, customers, and employees breathe
- Sealing hidden cracks and leaks otherwise undetectable and unreachable by hand preventing bad air from entering your living space
- Maximizing airflow of your current system helping evenly regulate temperature and humidity throughout your home or business
- Protecting the clean air you breathe from unwanted particulate and contaminants including: insulation, fiberglass, allergens, pulverized cockroach antennae, decaying bug and animal remnants inside your walls and attic
- Lowering humidity and evenly distributing conditioned air throughout your living space making your living space feel more comfortable
- Reducing moisture inside your living space and ductwork that supports microbial growth
- Improving the efficiency of your heating and cooling system saving you money over time
These are just some of the benefits of sealing your ducts with Aeroseal, but perhaps you have a few more questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LIKELY IS IT THAT MY DUCTWORK IS LEAKING?
Just because your system heats or cools your living space doesn’t mean it was built air tight. Unfortunately, almost every business or residence has leaky ductwork simply because the installation wasn’t properly sealed.
HOW MUCH ARE MY DUCTS LEAKING?
The average duct leakage on an older home is 27%. That means around ¼ of the air that you are paying for is either going to or coming in from the wrong places.
To determine your duct leakage, we’ll test your entire system and provide a detailed review of where and how much air is escaping or being sucked in from the outside.
WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE THERE FOR FIXING DUCTWORK LEAKS?
Seal by hand – Hand sealing ducts is an option and sometimes, depending on the leak, the only option. In fact, we often seal ducts by hand when the situation makes sense, but hand sealing doesn’t help if you can’t get physical access to the leak.
Oh, and please don’t seal your ducts with duct tape. It won’t last but a short while and you won’t have access to all your ductwork.
Replacement – Unfortunately, replacing ductwork often means you’re left with “new” leaky ducts
WHAT TYPES OF LEAKS CAN AEROSEAL FIX?
Many folks think of a leak as a hole in something, which can be the case with ductwork. However, often ductwork leaks at a connection. Think about it like a garden hose that sprays at the connection to the spigot, another hose or spray nozzle.
Worse leaks can occur when a crack happens down an entire seam of a duct section. This is often a concern where metal or drywall ductwork is employed.
Plus, even when the ductwork is accessible it is still difficult to seal every seam. Aeroseal addresses those issues by automatically sealing all of the cracks and holes up to 5/8 of an inch wide.
WHAT TYPE OF DUCTS CAN AEROSEAL BE USED TO SEAL?
Aeroseal duct sealing seals all types of ductwork including:
- Wall cavities – wood or sheetrock
- Duct board
- Metal
- Flex duct
- Plastic
