Just because your system heats or cools your living space doesn’t mean it was built air tight. Unfortunately, almost every business or residence has leaky ductwork simply because the installation wasn’t properly sealed.
HOW MUCH ARE MY DUCTS LEAKING?
The average duct leakage on an older home is 27%. That means around ¼ of the air that you are paying for is either going to or coming in from the wrong places.

WHAT OTHER OPTIONS ARE THERE FOR FIXING DUCTWORK LEAKS?
Seal by hand – Hand sealing ducts is an option and sometimes, depending on the leak, the only option. In fact, we often seal ducts by hand when the situation makes sense, but hand sealing doesn’t help if you can’t get physical access to the leak.
Oh, and please don’t seal your ducts with duct tape. It won’t last but a short while and you won’t have access to all your ductwork.
